The SBAG is proud to announce Sara's Gift, a fund which will provide assistance to families or individuals affected by Spina Bifida to attend various educational classes and programs both locally and nationally. Each year, the Board will provide a stipend to one or more persons affected by Spina Bifida to attend a Conference or educational class to help in underwriting registration and/or travel expenses.
Sara's Gift is named in honor of Sara Sadler Turnipseed, wife of current SBAG president William Turnipseed, and mother of Board member Nancy Turnipseed, who died on November 29, 2013, after a short illness.
Since her daughter was born with spina bifida in 1980, Sara was involved with the SBAG, serving on the Board in the late 1980's. She would have liked nothing more than to have this money raised in honor of her memory to be used to help educate and to empower people born with SB to realize their great potential to become productive members of society.
